Happy Tails – Pup Sympathy Card

Hey All,

Hope you are having a great day, and if you are near Denver/Colorado Springs, I hope you made it through the blizzard. I miss the snow& those majestic mountains! I wouldn’t have minded a couple of snow days myself;)

Recently also in Colorado Springs, my mother had to put down their family dog, Dawson. He was the sweetest German Shepherd that I’ve ever known. A big, fluffy, sweet, bear of a dog. I will miss his heart.

I wanted to make her a sympathy card since I know that would cheer her up a little, so this is what I came up with. I made this quick, easy card in about 10 minutes. I even made a tutorial if you would like to check it out HERE

I made 2 versions of the card, which one do you like better? I’ve linked all the materials needed for the card below. Thanks for stopping by, and please comment to let me know you were here! 🙂

Big announcement coming soon!!! xoxo

March Paper Pumpkin! with a Free Stamp Set!

https://www.paperpumpkin.com/en-us/sign-up/?demoid=2211286

Are you a subscriber for Paper Pumpkin yet?? If not, I have to ask why not? Let me ask you a question…how much do you spend on greeting cards per year?? Let’s do the math. I send at least 1-2 thank you’s a month, but I send more after my son and daughter’s birthdays. So that is, 2 x 12 = 24, plus about 10 x 2 = 20, that’s already 44 thank you’s. Then I send approximately 22 birthday cards per year, plus 8 Anniversary cards. IF I were to not be a cheapo, which usually I’m not and I do splurge on a semi-fancy card and spend about $5.00 per card, that is a whopping $370.00 a year! Now, you tell me, do you send that many cards? Let’s say you don’t have birthday thank you’s to send, ok, if we take off 20 cards, that’s minus $100, you still might spend $270.00 per year on cards. This is NOT counting cards for holidays! Do you send Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s or Mother’s Day cards? What about Father’s Day, Thinking of You, Get Well’s, etc!? So let’s be real, you might send those, so let’s add back on about 10 cards, not counting Christmas, because if you are like me, you send a pretty photo card. 😉 So take the $270.00 and add back $50.00, which comes to a grand total of $320.00. Did you even know you were spending that much on cards? Well, I do not. I spend $240.00 per year on Paper Pumpkin and have MORE than enough cards to send 96 cards per year. So, if I WERE buying 96 cards at $5 a pop, that would be $480! But I’m only spending $240… AND I do not just have 96 cards to show for it! I also have an acrylic block, 12 or more ink spots, 12 mini stamp sets, extra twine or ribbon (always!), dimensionals (pop dots) and glue dots! So worth it! Ready now? Sign up between now and March 10th in order to get the March kit!

Paper Craft Crew Challenge #183 – Stampin’ Up What I Love Thank You

Hi There!

I was able to make a sweet card the other day for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge. Since we’ve been packing like crazy, I’ve just found the time to post this! This week was a color challenge. Usually these challenges do exactly that…challenge me, but I turn to Stampin’ Up’s IB & C (Idea Book & Catalog) and I find a card I love. Then I just swap the colors for what is required.

pcccs163-006

I loved the card on page 119 so I copied it but used the challenge colors. I even used the same baker’s twine in Old Olive. I love the way the outline looks using the black Staz-On ink. That’s a must have for stamping on vellum. It comes in White too!

You can get the BOTANICAL GARDENS DESIGNER VELLUM STACK & the What I Love stamp set FREE in the Sale-A-Bration catalog when you spend $100! You get 1 item FREE with every $50 purchased! 🙂

Mojo Monday #436 – You’re So Sweet!

Welcome back to another Mojo Monday challenge! Today I made a card for the Mojo Monday #436 challenge. I’m a little late as the Linky closes in about an hour, but hey, sometimes I do my best work procrastinating. Also I heard recently, if you’re not procrastinating, you’re wasting time. 😉 I really love that.

Here is the cute and fun sketch over at Mojo:

mojo436

I just love the circles and banner elements! It was a fun and simple card to run with. I made a You’re So Sweet card using the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. You can still get this stamp set FREE with a $50 purchase before tax and shipping!

PhotoGrid_1456710010546

Can I just say I LOVE the It’s My Party enamel dots??? These cuties come in 3 great colors, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo.  They look so sweet, like little candies on my card!

I love that all of Stampin’ Up’s products coordinate so well! I had no problem matching the card stock to the embellishments to the ink! There are some really cute honeycomb embellishments in the Occasions catalog too. I didn’t use them this time around but they are adorable!

Just a little update on our move…we have 5 days to go. OMG! Today I packed up about 4 boxes of TOYS…and they have maybe 1 more. That’s way too many toys if you ask me. I see a donation run or a garage sale in our future! So we will be traveling about 1300 miles in a motorhome with 2 toddlers. I am NOT ready lol. Well, sort of. I have pinned several “traveling with toddlers” articles and ideas. I’m preparing some things that I hope will make it a smooth trip for everyone. I hope to write about our experience and what worked and didn’t work after we get there! I’ll connect a link to that post after I write it. Our family threw us a little going away party at my sister’s last night and that was really nice. (Except for a few dysfunctional family moments I won’t get into…) A little bittersweet, but we are excited to go!

Thanks for stopping by!

Charlene

Mini Treat Bag – It’s My Party, Sale-A-Bration

tmp_3532-PhotoGrid_1454797664406-1174672854

Hi Guys!

#1 – I just LOVE the mini treat bag from Stampin’ Up!….#2, I love making treats for my friends and loved ones!

This die is perfect for just that. I can’t wait to use it to make cute treat bags for my kid’s school parties too. Oh, and their birthday party favors! I can see getting use out of this product for years to come! 🙂

Here is a sweet little treat bag I designed for my class using just the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits!  I love the colors of the It’s My Party Design Paper…so bright and cheery! There’s Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Basic Black and Mint Macaron, to name a few. I created a card first at 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ using Whisper White. Then I added some DSP at 3″ x 4-1/2″. I punched a scalloped tag topper using Melon Mambo and finished it with a washi tape covered clothespin and baker’s twine. I stamped Happy Valentine’s Day using Teeny Tiny Wishes.

tmp_3532-20160206_1129171188815832

Then I made the cutest little treat bag using the Mini Treat Bag die and the Botanical Gardens Designer vellum stack (Sale-A-Bration Item!) I found out that using vellum is tricky with the Big Shot…but here is how I set up my “sandwich”:

  1. Magnetic Platform
  2. Vellum
  3. Mini Treat Bag Thinlit die
  4. 2 sheets of printer paper or grid paper (cut down to fit through the BigShot)
  5. Cutting plate

It MAY be different for you because of the different calibrations of all the BigShots. This is because we all use them with different sized dies and the number of times used makes a difference! Just try to troubleshoot and you’ll come up with what works for your own machine. The first time I tried it using a different “sandwich” I didn’t have “creases” but instead the thinlit cut all the way through.

After I put together my treat bag using Fast Fuse (I find this is great for vellum!), I cut out some banners to adhere to the front of my bag. I used the It’s My Party DSP Stack. You get 48 sheets of this paper! Such a great deal! Here are the sizes of the 3 banners:

  1. 2″ x 3″
  2. 2-1/2″ x 1-1/4″
  3. 2″ x 3/4″

Then I added a Blushing Bride Glimmer paper heart using the elements that come from the treat bag thinlits, a strip of hearts using Basic Black cardstock and a cute little wire bow embellishment! Perfect for dessing up this little bag. I know it’s a little “fancy”, but that’s what I was going for 😉  Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to follow my blog to see future projects and video tutorials!

Mojo Monday Sale-A-Bration Card -Going Global, Perfect Pairings & Cupcakes!

Okay….so I must have been VERY tired when I wrote this post! Hahaha….Crazy me, I posted the wrong card and even linked it to the Mojo Monday sketch! So, yes, wrong card and wrong layout posted to the Mojo Monday 433 Challenge. So, number 118 posted on the Mojo Challenge should be THIS card right here! I used the World Traveler embossing folder too, so cute for a pop of texture, but I think that would also make a great background! The paper is the Going Places Design Paper 6 x 6 pad, you get 4 each of 12 double sided designs! So many designs for some great card making or crafting! The “Seriously” and the “Son” stamp came from a past Paper Pumpkin kit. I love how I get so many stamps in my kit and now I have lots of stamps to choose from when I need just the right greeting!

Here is the Mojo Monday Contest Sketch #433 for the week of February 1st! This is such a simple and cute sketch.

I figured it out! The card below is actually for the Mojo Monday 431 sketch, not 433. I was late and missed the posting time for this and obviously forgot lol!

I decided to use the Sale-A-Bration set Perfect Pairings for this card. I stamped it with Happy Day to You on the front and then the Happy Birthday on the inside. I love this Cherry on Top designer paper, it’s so sweet and also versatile! (Not just for birthdays – but aren’t these ice-creams & cupcakes cute??)

mojo431

I used the cute little cupcake punch for this and punched the top and bottom of the cupcake. I also punched out a little cherry. Then I put it together and topped it with some Crystal Effects (gives it that glossy & raised look), which I need to use more! Love!

This set is a Sale-A-Bration stamp set so remember, just spend $50 before tax and shipping and you can get it for free!

And speaking of birthdays…here is my sweet, darling daughter on her 2nd birthday from a couple weeks ago!! She loves Frozen as you can see. I can’t believe how big she is! Where is the time going…..

Sale-A-Bration Card with Botanicals For You & More!

Ok, so I’ve realized that I haven’t been posting my cards even though I’ve been making them like crazy. Between my card class, challenges and sending friends cards, I’ve been designing a lot! So….this is a catch up post 😉 Here’s what I’ve been working on!

I love this Sale-A-Bration stamp set Botanicals For You. There’s so much versatility in it and I’ve seen a lot of cute things, but this card is a sample in the Sale-A-Bration catalog that I tweaked a little. I just added the banner with baker’s twine and the tiny butterfly (using our punch). PhotoGrid_1452245675204

Here’s what you need to make this card:

Here are 2 more cards I created using this sketch for my upline’s challenge in our Facebook group. I had a difficult time with this sketch for some reason, so I turned it and then the inspiration came! It reminded me of a quote from Big Hero 6…”just gotta look at things from a different angle sometimes!” 😉 I had two design ideas for it so I ran with it.

I used the What I Love stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Love the 3-step stamping in this set AND it is photopolymer! So easy to see what you are stamping!

I’ll try to get my other cards up here later today! Have a great day! ~ Charlene
