Christmas, Squishy Technique

Stampin Up Season of Cheer & Your Presents Card for Mojo Monday 415

Hello Friends!

Here is the sketch from over at Mojo Monday! I must say, this is a very easy and super cute sketch! I was able to think of a card immediately. I finally got to use my watercolor paper!!! I love the design paper, Season of Cheer and it’s watercolor, hand painted images…so beautiful! It coordinates great with the watercolor paper.

I used an aqua painter and just picked up the Soft Sky color from the lid of my stamp pad (just use the “squishy, squishy” technique lol. (That’s where you squeeze the ink pad a few times before opening it so that color will get on the lid. 🙂 Also, see the Cherry Cobbler cardstock on the sides of the poinsettia paper? I only used 2 small strips for that 🙂 This is just a trick I use when I want to save on paper or don’t have enough paper, or if I’m trying not to make the card too thick!

I stamped the little bow 2 times, once upside down, then cut it out. Super easy and cute! Love the gold glimmer paper with the embossing!

I hope you enjoyed my card, if so, leave me a comment! See below for all the stamps & supplies I used for this project. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

3-D Anti-Bacterial Holder Tutorial & NEW CLASS – New style from Bath & Body Works! Register online! Ships October 1st!

Hey Y’all!  I was SO excited to see a new pocket hand sanitizer (Anti-Bac) from Bath & Body Works! It’s smaller and it’s oval! So now it fits in the oval punched paper holder better and it saves card stock since the box is shorter. 🙂 I used the tutorial by Erica Cerwin and modified it a bit. My step by step video tutorial is HERE. Anti-bac holder www.sweetpiecesbyme.com

Here is how I put this cute hand sanitizer box together: Start with a 3″ x 9″ piece of card stock.

Antibacterial holder www.sweetpiecesbyme.com

Score the long side at 1″, 2″, 5″ & 6″. Fold on the score lines and set that aside. Then work on the bottom piece. Cut a piece that is 1-1/2″ x 6″. Score on the long side at 1/2″, 1-1/2″, 4-1/2″ and 5-1/2″. Then turn the piece at score it on the short side at 1/4″ and 1-1/4″.

Antibacterial holder www.sweetpiecesbyme.com

Then fold on the score lines and cut off the corners of the small piece. You can then apply your adhesive (I prefer sticky strip). Then you can use the oval punch to punch the center.

antibacterial holder www.sweetpiecesbyme.com

Then you’re ready to peel the back off the sticky strip and put your box together! I like to adhere one side, then the front, then the other side, then the back.

Sympathy Card

Mojo Monday 414 – Contest

Well, that weekend went by super fast. 😦 I love those long holiday weekends, playing in the pool with the kiddos, having a BBQ (or going to one in our case), cold beer, spending time with family. My mother in law came to visit this weekend. She is so sweet, she brought me some jewelry. She loves to find great pieces at consignment/resale stores and sometimes she gives me her own pieces. It’s just a thing she does and I think it’s so special. This weekend I got to work on her wedding invites for her wedding in October! So fun! (I would not have her use store bought ones) 😉

Besides that, I was working on some tutorial videos which I will talk about here but also share in another post. Very fun stuff! But here is the card sketch for over at the Mojo Monday blog….

I had lots of ideas for this card….here is something coming together…I just love the Flower Patch stamp set with matching Framelits! I didn’t end up using the Blackberry Bliss. It seemed to dark to me as this was for a sympathy card.

www.sweetpiecesbyme.com Flower Patch, SympathyAnd here is my finished card. I used Mint Macaron for my base. (5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ size A2 card) I also used the Butterflies Thinlits. The Fine-Tip Glue pen works great for these types of die cuts. Check out my video HERE on how to use the Fine-Tip glue! I share a cute Halloween Anti-Bac holder in the video! Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday 413 – Amazing Birthday & Cherry On Top DSP

Just a quick post since I’m doing this at 2:45AM! Ugh! I was trying to get it up here on Monday…I will pay for this tomorrow when my toddler comes in my room around 7:00 AM saying “I NEED MIIIILK”. He loves his vitamin D milk. 🙂
So here is the tall & skinny sketch from over at Mojo Monday. I love that this is a 3.5″ by 5.5″ inch card as opposed to the standard A2 (4-1/4″ x 5 1/2″). You would just use a 3.5″ x 11″ piece of card stock scored at 5.5″.

For this sketch I instantly thought of Amazing Birthday! I love the 1-1/4″ circle stamps that it has. So easy to stamp & punch! I love love love the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper, it is so, well, YUMMY!!! Get some, you won’t regret it.

Mojo Monday 412

Yay it’s Monday! Well…by the time I post this, it could possibly be Tuesday. 😉 We put the kids to bed, did the dishes and picked up toys, then finally I got to make my Mojo Monday card. It’s been a rough few days being sick, but I’m feeling so much better I’m gonna stay up late! haha (praying I don’t get a relapse!)

Happy Haunting

Here is the cute sketch by Julee:

I couldn’t help but use the awesome spiderweb doilies…AGAIN! Man I just cannot get enough of these! You’ll be able to purchase these Sept 1st, don’t worry 😉

PhotoGrid_1440487714860

And in which case you will also need the Fine-Tip glue to use when adhering these beautiful embellishments! Trust me, you’ll NEED this.

Fine-Tip Glue www.sweetpiecesbyme.com

I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to stamp the background in a random pattern using Rich Razzleberry. Then I stamped a couple of those creepy looking spiders from the All Year Cheer stamp set, using the Archival Basic Black ink (which will be in the new catalog!).  MUST HAVE.  Once I adhered the Spider Web, I cut little banners with the design paper and the rich razzleberry Happy Haunting Washi Tape. I doubled the tape so it would look a little darker. Of course I had to add some bling! The Metallics Sequins are SO pretty AND versatile! You can use these on almost every card…and for $5 for approx 750 pieces, well, you can’t argue with that. 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by! Please leave me some love! xoxo

Family, Life, Living, Love, Writing

Saying Goodbye…

On Saturday my family and I said goodbye to my Aunt Linda. She was my mother’s cousin and they were very close having grown up together and even had their wedding anniversaries only 3 years apart. Their children very close in age. She was my “Auntie” out of respect and love. It came as quite a shock when I found out she had terminal liver cancer only a few short weeks ago. Then we found out she passed away August 1st.

Everything happened so quick. We are still in shock. I’m so saddened that we lost her too soon. She had so much life left to live. I made a card for the family using the Flower Patch stamp set and the Flower Fair framelits.

“For the Family”

While at the funeral reception I had the pleasure to finally meet Laura Vegas! Crazy small world that she is part of our extended family! It was neat to talk to her and ask her about her latest scrapbooking and designing adventures! Even though I felt silly I had to ask for a picture with her. After all, she is family 😉 We had a lovely chat with her, me and my sister, Caroline. We are both eager to get our blogs off the ground and she had some great insight! I’ll be following her blog for sure for lots of inspiration.

Even though it was a very sad day, it brought family closer together. It made me also start thinking. What if tomorrow was my last day here? Would I be ready? Would my family and children know how much I love them? I decided I must write letters to my children and my husband as soon as possible and tuck them away. Yes it is sad to think about it, but no one knows the hour that their time will come.

On the way home we had to stop at our old family favorite, King Eggroll. We used to frequent the Berryessa location in San Jose many an occasion for dim sum and eggrolls. If you live in the Bay Area and you have never had a King Eggroll, stop what you are doing and head there now. 😉 You’ll thank me. We got the usual dumplings (dim sum) and decided to take a fun family selfie because my parents and us siblings are hardly ever together with no spouses or kids!

Here’s to my Aunt Linda and to anyone else that has lost someone….

It’s been a long day without you my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
Why’d you have to leave so soon?
Why’d you have to go?
Why’d you have to leave me when I needed you the most?
‘Cause I don’t really know how to tell you
Without feeling much worse
I know you’re in a better place
But it’s always gonna hurt
Carry on
Give me all the strength I need to carry on
It’s been a long day without you my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
How do I breathe without you
I’m feeling so cold
I’ll be waiting right here for you
Till the day you’re home
Carry on
Give me all the strength I need to carry on
So let the light guide your way
Hold every memory as you go
And every road you take will always lead you home
It’s been a long day without you my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again

Mojo Monday 410 – On Thursday?

Hello Friends!

Yep, time got away from me this week! I am just now posting my card for the Mojo Monday Challenge. I would love to blame this on something or someone…such as, my 3 year old son is sick and has been coughing A LOT, my upline’s meeting was today, I had to show my house this week, I had to clean the <insert whatever here>…but I won’t. I will just say, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER! HA! I am a major procrastinator so I think that has been and always will be my motto. 😉 Anyway, on to the Mojo Monday sketch and card!

Super cute layout! I can’t stop thinking about the new Spiderweb Doilies that will be in the Holiday catalog September 1st, so I used those! I also sponged some silver glimmer paper to get an “almost” black….which you won’t HAVE to do anymore because there will be BLACK GLIMMER PAPER!!! Ahhhhh! 🙂 But if you do just get the silver…think of all the possibilities! 😉

PhotoGrid_1439538115734

I also trimmed the spiderweb behind the “moon” (because no one would know!) and I used that for a tag I made. Sneaky, huh? The iced rhinestones are new too, or will be Sept 1st, and they are gorgeous! They add SO much sparkle to the card. Well, that’s it for today! Hope you enjoyed this post (I do try to entertain) and my card!
